WHAT TO EXPECT

Going somewhere new can be intimidating. It may bring up lots of questions. If you’re thinking about visiting Mt. Hope, we want you to feel prepared and at ease, so here are some of the most common questions we’ve heard along with the answers!

What if I’ve never been to church before?

Whether you’ve been attending your entire life or never crossed the threshold of a church before, you are welcome here! We love introducing newcomers to our community.

What should I wear?

Come as you are. You might see some people wearing their Sunday finest, but chances are you’ll see just as many wearing jeans and t-shirts (plus everything in between). What you wear is totally up to you.

What will we do?

Each Sunday morning we gather as an inclusive community of faith to spend time praising and thanking God, contemplating His Holy Word & serving our community - both inside and outside the church - with joy. We will sing songs, pray, listen to teaching and fellowship with one another.

Is the building accessible?

We are very fortunate to offer an elevator at our main parking lot entrance to assist with travel between floors. We have wide hallways and handicap accessible restrooms and we have areas where our pews have been shortened to allow spaces for wheelchair access.

Is there singing?

One of the ways we can collectively express our praise and thanks to God is by singing to and about Him, so, yes, we sing together each Sunday. We sing a range of songs and styles, from hymns to contemporary songs you may have even heard on the local radio station. (Don’t worry, no special singing skills are required)

How long is Sunday Service?

We keep our services on Sundays under an hour. Many people arrive a bit early or stay after dismissal to visit and catch up with each other. Every so often we have a casual “Coffee Hour” after service to learn more about current church happenings and discuss topics of interest.

Do I need to bring anything?

No! You don’t need anything at all! You can feel free to bring your favorite Bible or notebook if you’d like.

What if I have kids or teens?

Currently Mt Hope’s Sunday Services are designed to be for the whole family. There are spaces for little ones to play just outside the back of the sanctuary, as well as an infant room equipped for changing and feeding so that parents can still hear and participate in the service. Often there will even be a special message designed just for the kids that will take place before the sermon. At this time, older children and teens are invited and encouraged to participate in the congregational worship service!

Are they friendly/Will I fit in?

We hope that when you step foot in Mount Hope you will feel just how loved you are by both God and our church community. You don’t need to change anything to “fit in” here…there is and always will be a place for you!
